MARC Radio brings new beach format to local airwaves
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 12, 2024) – The Beach arrived in Gainesville today. Effective at noon, radio station WXJZ 100.9 FM upgraded its classic hits format to embody the Florida beach vibe, bringing the fun and feel of Florida’s coastal beaches to work desks and car radios all over Gainesville and Ocala.
“Escaping to the beach has never been easier,” said Scott Miller, a member of The Beach 100.9 executive team. “We’re delivering that wonderful weekend beach feeling each and every day to our growing base of listeners.” The Beach 100.9 replaced what was formerly known as Classic Hits 100.9, also owned by MARC Radio.
“MARC Radio is growing,” Miller said. “We have an outstanding track record of identifying stations to acquire, then upgrading those stations to be attractive to both listeners and marketing partners.”
“It’s been hard to keep this a secret,” admitted Miller. “Our team is beyond excited to bring this upbeat, beachy feeling to our Gainesville and Ocala listeners. We know that going to the beach is more than a location; it’s a state of mind. From Jimmy Buffet to Madonna and Journey, we’ll bring all the fun of the beach without the hassle to get there.”
The Beach 100.9 is owned and operated by MARC Media Group of Orlando, Florida. The station is located in Gainesville, Florida. MARC Media Group LLC owns radio stations coast to coast in Florida and also in Texas. It also owns a daily news organization and an outdoor advertising company.
