“Space Coast’s Greatest Hits” Format to Stay
MELBOURNE, Fla. (December 5, 2022) – Knowing a good thing when they hear it, Orlando’s MARC Radio Group, a subsidiary of MARC Media Group LLC, announced today that it has negotiated the purchase of the popular WSBH-FM 98.5 The Beach radio station known as the “Space Coast’s Greatest Hits.”
No changes are planned for the staff or format, said Dave Cobb, executive vice president for MARC Media Group. “The team at 98.5 The Beach has an outstanding track record as a market leader in both ratings and revenue. This is a great opportunity for MARC to expand our radio footprint into one of the fastest growing markets in the country,” he said. With its combined stations’ signals reaching from the Gulf to the Atlantic, MARC is now a Florida coast-to-coast broadcaster.
The station was previously owned by Horizon Broadcasting LLC of Fort Pierce, which first signed on the station sixteen years ago. “Horizon’s core values include treating our people like family to serve the local broadcasting community. We are excited to be handing off this great radio station to MARC, a company that truly shares those values,” said Jay Meyers who represented the seller, adding that the sale marks Horizon’s exit from radio.
“We’re impressed with the caliber of The Beach team and the quality of the product they consistently deliver to the Space Coast. Our goal is to help them with the tools they need to reach even more listeners and advertisers as we grow this station together,” said Cobb.
MARC Media Group LLC owns radio stations in Florida and Texas, as well as a daily news organization and an outdoor advertising company. Its radio stations feature a variety of formats from Hip-Hop and R&B to Gospel.
The sale of WSBH-FM 98.5 The Beach is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023. The seller was represented by Broadcast Management and Technology. The buyer was represented by Doyle Hadden of Hadden & Associates.
